Bariloche
Situated on a glacial moraine, at the very edge of Lake Nahuel Huapi, Bariloche (pop. 78,000) is the heart and soul of the famous lake region, on the border between Argentina and Chile. The city features a remarkable German-style architecture amid a background of extreme beauty enhanced by snow-capped mountains, millenary forests, and azure and emerald-water lakes. It is also the departure and arrival point for the famous lake crossing and gateway to famous ski resorts.

When to go
Best time is December-April, when days are longer. Although Patagonia’s weather is unpredictable, summer is characterized by sunny days and cool nights with temperatures ranging from 60F to 80F. Winter (June-September) is the best time for ski aficionados. Temperatures vary from 14F to 35F.
